Lead Acid Battery

A lead-acid battery is a type of rechargeable battery that uses lead dioxide (PbO2) as the positive plate, sponge lead (Pb) as the negative plate, and a sulfuric acid solution as the electrolyte. It is one of the oldest and most widely used types of rechargeable batteries due to its reliability, relatively low cost, and ability to provide high surge currents. Lead-acid batteries are commonly found in applications such as starting car engines, backup power systems, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). While they are heavier and have a lower energy density compared to newer battery technologies like lithium-ion, their robustness and cost-effectiveness make them a popular choice for many applications. However, they require regular maintenance, such as checking the electrolyte levels, and must be recycled properly to prevent environmental harm.
